Business Unit Overview
The Information Technology Group (ITG), part of the Operations Business Unit, is responsible for managing all core internal infrastructure, from server operating systems up, including identity services, Microsoft 365, and AWS architecture.
The team manages all aspects of internal IT infrastructure, including the design, build, and operation of highly available virtual environments across global locations.
You will be joining at a pivotal time, contributing directly to the delivery of Superloop’s new three-year IT strategy.
Role Purpose
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational support of the organisation’s core infrastructure across on-premises hypervisors, server operating systems, and AWS environments. This role requires deep expertise in Linux server administration and strong proficiency in Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), ensuring secure and reliable identity management across the enterprise.
As a senior technical resource, you will develop and support the organisation’s virtualisation platforms, AWS services, and Linux-based server fleet, while driving continuous improvement in resilience, performance, and security. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will also act as the Infrastructure Team Lead’s 2IC, providing guidance and resolution for complex issues that cross infrastructure, identity, and endpoint domains.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Architecture & Operations
Ensure high availability and performance of core platforms, including hypervisors, identity services, AWS, and global infrastructure environments, with clear ownership of uptime and SLA adherence, and a strong focus on Linux
Design, implement, and support secure infrastructure by embedding security controls across servers, endpoints, identity, and cloud platforms in alignment with organisational standards
Modernise and standardise infrastructure, reducing technical debt and driving consistency across cloud, endpoint, and identity platforms
Automate operational processes, including provisioning, patching, monitoring, and compliance enforcement, to reduce manual effort and improve reliability
Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures, to reduce key-person risk and support audit readiness
Own complex incidents end-to-end, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of permanent fixes
Deliver infrastructure components for key projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with business and security requirements
Manage and optimise cloud and on-premises platforms, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost control
Collaborate across infrastructure, security, network, and development teams, acting as a senior technical authority and contributing to cross-domain initiatives
Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure operations, increasing efficiency, resilience, and service quality
Proactively identify and remediate single points of failure, strengthening overall environmental resilience
Platform & System Management
Deploy and manage infrastructure across public and private cloud platforms (including hyper-converged infrastructure), various Linux distributions, Entra ID, corporate datacentre compute and storage, and AWS cloud services
Work with the DevOps team on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives
Administer and harden Active Directory, Entra ID, and authentication systems
Automation & DevOps Support (not a DevOps role)
Maintain and optimise a predominantly Linux-based global server fleet, with some Windows systems
Support developers by ensuring underlying infrastructure is robust, efficient, and secure
Governance & Documentation
Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, including infrastructure diagrams, system configurations, and procedures
Ensure infrastructure is audit-ready through version-controlled documentation and adherence to change management practices
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive automation, efficiency, and system hardening initiatives to improve service delivery and reduce operational risk
Research and implement emerging technologies aligned with business growth and security strategies
Operational Oversight
Act as 2IC for Infrastructure, stepping in when the Infrastructure Lead is unavailable
Lead and participate in day-to-day operational management, including monitoring, incident response, and service restoration
Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation
