Role Purpose
The WHS Administrator supports the development and engagement of a consistent and positive Work Health and Safety (WHS) culture across the organisation. This role provides support to employees and leaders on WHS-related matters and assists with the maintenance of the WHS Management System.
This position is well suited to someone with a strong interest in WHS who is keen to develop their knowledge and capability in this area. While prior WHS experience is beneficial, it is not essential. The role plays an important part in fostering a safe work environment, supporting compliance with WHS legislation, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of WHS policies, procedures, and documentation.
Support the implementation and ongoing administration of the WHS Management System.
Coordinate WHS induction and training activities, including tracking completion and maintaining training records.
Support workplace inspections, audits, and WHS Committee meetings, including preparing, recording, and distributing minutes.
Maintain accurate and confidential WHS records and documentation.
Provide administrative support for WHS projects and health and wellbeing initiatives.
Assist in return-to-work programs, including identifying suitable duties and maintaining job dictionaries.
Provide general administrative and ad hoc support to the WHS Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
A demonstrated interest in Work Health and Safety and a willingness to learn and develop in this field.
Previous experience in WHS, risk management, or a similar role is preferred but not essential.
Strong administrative and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to navigate conflict and negotiate outcomes.
Confident communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (Bachelor’s degree or Certificate IV), or currently working towards, are desirable.
