Business Unit Overview
Our Network Engineering team are the architects and custodians of our networks that enable our core products suite - connectivity. The Network Engineering team design, install and maintain production networks to enable maximum performance and availability to our internal and external customers.
Role Purpose
The primary goal of the Senior Network Engineer is to ensure the smooth operation of the Superloop network to provide maximum performance and availability to all customers. The Network Engineer is responsible for building, supporting, and maintaining all devices and services within Superloop’s global network.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing of Superloop’s Optical network infrastructure
- Proactively monitoring Optical network performance.
- Troubleshooting network faults, resolving escalated Optical network issues.
- Adhering to all network security standards.
- Managing and maintaining Optical network documentation and inventory.
- Collaborating with other business units where required.
- Maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
- Adhering to all company policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in operations, maintenance, and deployment of advanced optical equipment and technologies
- Strong experience in designing, implementing, and operating carrier-grade optical transport networks, with a focus on reliability and scalability.
- In-depth knowledge of DWDM, ROADMs, coherent modulation, and key optical networking principles across long-haul, metro, and subsea transmission systems.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, performance optimization, and capacity planning, with active involvement in network architecture decisions.
- Proficient in working with multi-vendor environments, including platforms such as Ciena, Cisco, and PacketLight, and experienced in interpreting link budgets, power levels, and OSNR thresholds.
- Hands-on expertise with Coherent Muxponders, fixed grid multiplexers, ROADMs, optical protection switches, EDFA amplifiers, and submarine Line Terminal Equipment.
