Business Unit Overview
Our Operations unit is the engine room of Superloop - responsible for maintaining and supporting all of our products and internal technical infrastructure to ensure the best possible service to both our customers and our very own business. Our Operations unit is responsible for ensuring that the business has the technical capability and capacity to deliver services to all Superloop customers ranging from Home Broadband to International Wholesale.
Role Purpose
The Field Services Technician provides an on-site technical field services as well as on-site technical support to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test copper and fibre optic cabling, ensuring proper cable management and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cabling-related faults, adhering to compliance guidelines and completing necessary documentation.
- Support with preparing, configuring, and deploying hardware and customer equipment.
- Perform remote configuration changes and assist with on-site network fault resolution.
- Revise site documentation upon change requests and create reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent Superloop in dealings and liaise with customers, suppliers, vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of faults and enquiries.
- Adhere to all company and workplace health and safety guidelines.
- Participate in the 24/7 on-call roster (if required).
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Field Technician role.
- ACMA Cabling Registration (Open Registration) with the following competencies: Structured Cabling, Optic Fibre Termination and Coaxial Cabling.
- Experience maintaining FTTP, FTTB and fibre technologies (desirable).
- Experience working with WiFi and Ekahau suite to design and survey wireless networks (desirable).
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel, including internationally with a valid passport.
- Ability to obtain working with children check and/or Blue Card.
- Ability to obtain a successful police check.
- Compliance with WH&S requirements, including vaccinations and other relevant certifications including Work Safely at Heights (RIIWHS204E) certification.
- First Aid & CPR (highly desirable).
- TAFE or higher qualifications in Telecommunications, Computer Networking or equivalent combination of education and experience (desirable).
Key Deliverables
- Represent Superloop with a level of professionalism while undertaking site visits and both internal and external communications.
- Document network configurations, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
- Ensure that all escalations are acknowledged and dealt with as per OLA timeframes.
- Incident management, manage outages, communications and events as per SLA.
- Maintaining networking and operational standards across all internal systems, hardware and documentation.
- Maintain a reasonable level of responsiveness across all SLC communication mediums.
- Compliance with regulations relating to copper and fibre optic cabling work such as TCA forms and documentation.
